Day Five: Favorite Quote

Break in posts due to "The Blizzard of 2011" -Lot's of shoveling, pictures to come. :)

My favorite quote is an entire poem. The first time I read this is was on a bright pink insert in the Missoulian, it was an advertisement for Muralt's I believe. Anyway, I liked it so much that I hung the paper on my wall. Then I hung it on the wall in our new house. Then the paper hung on every bedroom wall that I have had since then, excluding the one I have now. But that little piece of paper inspired me so much that I plan on framing it and hanging it.....well, hanging it somewhere important.

As a side note, I have always thought that this poem was written by Emerson, but have recently found out that the author is unknown.

Success
To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
